Primary spine tumor
Tumors that originate in the spine or spinal cord or nerves.
Service Description
A primary spine tumor is an abnormal growth that originates within the bones (vertebrae), spinal cord, or surrounding tissues of the spine. Unlike secondary (metastatic) tumors, which spread from cancers in other parts of the body (like the breast, lung, or prostate), primary tumors begin in the spine itself. These tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous), and they can occur within the spinal cord (intramedullary), in the covering membranes (extramedullary), or in the bones of the spine (vertebral column). Common Types of Primary Spine Tumors Intradural (mostly): Ependymoma, Astrocytoma, Meningioma, Schwannoma and Neurofibroma, Extradural: Chordoma, Osteoid osteoma and Osteoblastoma, Osteosarcoma
